Hypnosis is a trance-like state in which you use a relaxed focus to access your subconscious mind. There, a vast reservoir of information is available to help you address concerns.
During hypnosis, you feel similar to when you daydream, or “lose yourself” in a book or movie. You are fully conscious, but you tune out most of what’s happening around you, so you can focus on the subject at hand. Although you’re more open to suggestion during hypnosis, you don’t lose control, as a part of you is still aware as we work. For instance, have you ever driven home and forgotten which route you took? That is a light trance, and you were presumably still in control as you drove.
